Published on 25 November, The National Infrastructure Strategy sets out the government's plans to transform the UK's infrastructure networks, including water services.
It is based around three central objectives: economic recovery; levelling up and strengthening the Union; and meeting the UK's net zero emissions target by 2050.
Southern Water Chief Executive Ian McAulay, said:
"We welcome the publication of the Government’s strategy for the future of the UK’s infrastructure. The continued commitment to reduce water demand is welcome. Reducing consumption and leakage are key challenges for water companies and others in our water-scarce region but it is a challenge we must rise to if we are to deliver a resilient water future for the South East.”
