Volunteers at Twyford Waterworks Trust celebrated the installation of a brand new defibrillator, thanks to the support of Southern Water, Twyford Parish Council and Hampshire County Council.
The life-saving technology was unveiled at the Waterworks Museum during an Open Day on Sunday, 3 July 2022.
The event was attended by Alex Willumsen, Southern Water’s Community Partnerships and Programme Manager, Joe Murphy, Southern Water’s Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, and Cllr Sue Cook, alongside Anna Bispham, Matthew Feldwick and Graham Feldwick from the Trust.
Twyford Waterworks Trust Chair, Graham Feldwick, said: “Twyford Waterworks is a wonderful place to volunteer and to visit, where we welcome several thousand visitors each year and have a thriving team of volunteers, who lovingly restore and maintain the site.
“It’s vitally important that the site is safe for everyone and our Trust is most grateful to Southern Water, Twyford Parish Council and Hampshire County Council for their generous support.”
Graham also thanked Southern Water for the recent provision of First Aid Training for some of the volunteers.
Alex Willumsen added: “We are so happy to have supported the installation of a defibrillator at Twyford Water Works historic site, where volunteers and trustees work extremely hard to celebrate the incredible engineering feats and processes through history which have played a role in the process of wholesome water supply.
“This is a remote location so the installation of a defibrillator means everyone can enjoy a safe and enjoyable day out on site.”
The next Open Day at Twyford Waterworks will be on Sunday, 7 August 2022. Full details about the Waterworks can be found at www.twyfordwaterworks.co.uk.
