Update 11:30 26/10/22
We’re pleased to say repairs to the broken sewer at The Quay, Newport were completed overnight. We’re sorry for the noise and disruption caused by the tankers we used to manage flows protecting the environment and preventing further flooding. These have now been stood down.
We’re sorry to say that a burst sewer main has caused flooding close to the Premier Inn, in Newport, Isle of Wight.
We attended the site as soon as we were alerted and managed to prevent further flooding. A clean up is underway, and specialist teams are working around the clock to carry out repairs to the main.
Unfortunately, to protect local businesses and other properties from flooding, we are likely to need to temporarily use our combined emergency overflow at The Quay. The length of any release will be minimised by the use of Southern Water tankers.
We understand the disruption this incident may cause residents and businesses in the area and are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as we can.
Further updates will be provided via our website.
