We’re aware of a video circulating on social media which appears to show diesel spilling into the River Test.
The spill is believed to originate from an industrial estate connected to the surface water system and has not been caused by Southern Water, however we’re working hard to manage this difficult situation and minimise the impact to the river.
We’ve added more protective booms to those already in place around the outfall and these are being closely monitored and replaced as required.
While this pollution is not a consequence of any Southern Water activities, we are doing our utmost to protect the environment and are working on a complex solution to remove all third party contaminants from this important system.
