Repair Works at Langstone Road, Hayling Island

Update 27/09/22 16:00

We'll be back for the last time tonight at #LangstoneRd, #HaylingIsland from midnight to 5am.

This is so we can complete repairs to the pavement for pedestrians as quickly and safely as possible.

Thanks again for your understanding and patience.

Update 23/09/22 11.55am

Following essential repair works to public sewer pipes under Langstone Road, Hayling Island, we can confirm that the road remains fully open to traffic in both directions.

We’re very sorry for the traffic disruption caused when the work was carried out from Wednesday afternoon through to Thursday afternoon, to fix pipes extending from a customer’s property to the road underneath the pavement and carriageway. This meant our teams had to install temporary traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing.

Road resurfacing will take place during the early hours of Saturday morning, replacing the current anti-skid road plates. This will require temporary traffic management arrangements, but this is expected to be complete ahead of daylight hours.

We fully appreciate the disruption this has caused and we’re sorry for the impact it has had on road users.

22/09/22 2.45pm

We’re very sorry for the traffic disruption on Langstone Road, Hayling Island, caused by essential repair works needed to public sewer pipes which extend from our customer’s property to the road underneath the pavement and carriageway. The work involves repairing a section of pipework underneath the carriageway, which meant our teams had to install temporary traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing that unfortunately resulted traffic delays.

Our teams have continued to work 24/7 to resolve the repair as quickly as possible. We’ve now reopened the road by installing  anti-skid road plates over the excavation zone and removed the temporary traffic lights, and traffic is now flowing as normal. The temporary pedestrian crossing will remain in place until the works are finished to provide a safe path for pedestrians.

We fully appreciate the disruption this has caused and we’re sorry for the impact it has had to road users. We will provide updates on the progress of our works on our website.
