A system fault at our Swalecliffe Wastewater Treatment Works has resulted in wastewater leaving our Brook Pumping station and entering a nearby brook.
Our specialist teams are onsite and have all systems back under control. The failure has been identified and a fix is being carried out.
We have notified the Environment Agency, Natural England and the Local Authority and will continue to work with them in the coming hours to assess and mitigate against impact to the environment, we will undertake any clean up that is necessary.
Southern Water is committed to protecting the environment and part of this is being fully transparent about how we operate. No pollution is acceptable to us and we believe it is important that our customers are always fully informed. We will continue to strive to do better.
